India's Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying has launched the "Report Fish Disease" android-based mobile app, which aims to digitize the fish farming sector. 

The app serves as a central platform connecting fish farmers, field-level officers, and fish health experts, enabling seamless integration and transparent communication among stakeholders.

 The app offers several benefits, including data collection and mapping, an early warning system, improved disease reporting, and strengthened disease reporting.

 The National Surveillance Programme for Aquatic Animal Diseases (NSPAAD) is a key initiative in India, with the Department of Fisheries allocating ₹33.78 crore for the second phase of NSPAAD for a period of three years. 

The app, developed by ICAR-National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources (NBFGR), Lucknow, supports the NSPAAD initiative and supports the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), a flagship scheme dedicated to the holistic development of the fisheries sector. 

 The Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana aims to achieve significant milestones by 2024-25, including increasing fish production and export earnings, doubling the incomes of fishers and fish farmers. The "Report Fish Disease" app, developed by ICAR-National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources (NBFGR), Lucknow, supports the NSPAAD initiative and aims to improve the quality of life for fish farmers in India.
